VDS has extensive experience developing customized multi-rater (360 degree) survey
instruments. We offer several different types of question
and reporting styles including means-based and ipsative arrays, with or without
importance ratings. We offer open-ended, verbatim style questions as
well as traditional frequency and extent style questions. Our full-color graphic and tabular
reports provide clear and concise feedback.
Clients who need assistance developing their own survey instruments can use the
VDS proprietary Question Bank, a database that houses questions used in previous
surveys,
or they can draw on the experience of one or more of the consulting
firms that have strategic alliances with VDS.
VDS also offers a wide range of pre-specified instruments appropriate for a variety of contexts.
The Vector
PMDS has been used effectively by the Vector Group, for many
years in projects with companies of all sizes seeking to develop their most valuable
resources: their people. VDS supports the use of PMDS with a fully developed course
curriculum that clients can use alone or in conjunction with their own program
material and ratee workbooks.
This ready-to-use multi-rater survey is designed generally enough to be highly effective
in nearly all circumstances, yet focused enough to measure accurately.
The Leadership Compass Inventory, developed with Dr. Michael Fenlon, Associate
Dean and Professor at Columbia Business School, is a 65-item, multi-rater (360-degree)
instrument that serves as an assessment and action-planning tool for executives
and managers. A distinctive feature of this instrument is its comprehensive design,
providing insight about overall effectiveness and detailed feedback data on areas
ranging from key organizational leadership practices to the interpersonal and personal
competencies that reflect emotional intelligence (EQ).
Internal customers are an important constituency for a company’s success. Through
the use of instruments like the Team Climate Survey and the Term Performance Survey,
VDS has helped many clients assess employee satisfaction. Internal customers are

Team Climate Survey
VDS offers its clients the CDR International Team Climate Survey, an instrument
that diagnoses the critical elements of a winning team, focusing on the areas of
Direction, Recognition, Involvement, Meaningful Work, Excellence, Trust, Support,
and Cross-Organizational Relationships.
Team Performance Survey
The Team Performance Survey was developed by Saletta Boni, Ph.D. and Michael J.
Fenlon, Ph.D., who are both members of the faculty at the Columbia Business School,
and has been used very successfully in the Columbia Business School Executive Education
program. The Team Performance Survey is a multi-rater survey that evaluates how
a team's leader and its members, as well as non-team members, view the team’s organizational
environment, purpose, team climate, leadership, and results.
The Kiefaber Paradigm Preference Indicator (KP2) was developed by renowned management consultant, Mark Kiefaber, a noted management consultant and Co-Faculty Director
of Columbia University’s Senior Executive Program. The Kiefaber Paradigm Preference
Indicator is an instrument that reveals one’s own creative problem solving style. It measures the extent to which individuals solve problems inside versus outside
an accepted framework and seek to implement problem-solving ideas in either
a patient or impatient way. The test not only provides insight into individual preferences,
but also provides a basis for understanding that can lead to greater group effectiveness.
We work closely with our clients in every aspect of the planning,
design, data gathering, and interpretation requirements relating to their project
to ensure that the instruments they use bring them the results they want.
